Ok, it's time to suggest books for the next read. The 1st one was a little lame so I hope we didn't kill the book club idea with the 1st choice in books!

Get suggesting book #2! http://www.livejournal.com/community/ri_scifi/8460.html

I finished the Dante Club this morning.

In retrospect I think the novel was pretty damn good. Yeah, it took a while to pick up and was a little heavier a read than I was expecting but all in all I liked it. I'm looking forward to the next book being a lighter more casual reading experience :)

Does anyone have any good suggestions for non-fiction stories about hauntings and stuff of that nature...I read this really good one once, cant remember the name. I think I still have it at my parents. I'd like to find more if I can.

I'm on page 80 something. The 1st 50 pages were grueling... but now it's starting to roll along. I'm starting to get into the mystery of who is the killer. I wish I could catch up to Skorpion.

I'm about 30 pages in. So far I have to agree with everyone that it has been a slow read. It is interesting but doesn't seem to flow all that well. The author seems to be spending too much time on the backdrop and not enough on the story. This is sort of the same problem I have with Tolkien. Anyhow, I'm a trooper and am commited to finishing the novel. I have high hopes that it is going to pick up dramatically and end well.

I think I've given up on The Dante Club. I have to be honest it is not my type of novel and I am just having a really hard time getting into it. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next pick is.

I bought this other book yesterday called Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. I already finished it early this afternoon. I enjoyed it enough that I'm going to get the others in this series and read them too. Hopefully the next one is as fun as this one was. It was just a light little romance/mystery/fantasy novel about this girl from this small town who falls in love with this vampire. There are murders going on in the town at the same time. It was pretty interesting and a pretty easy read.
